Recovery Run on the 5K of Perpetual Suffering Route.  5k of Perpetual Suffering

Distance 3.1miles

Time 39:25

Pace 12:30

It was a cool and overcast morning.  This was a recovery run after yesterday’s Martha’s Run 10 Km race.

I’ve long considered the world to have three urgent and existential problems:

  1. Global Warming and the Rise of Sea Levels
  2. The creation of antibiotic-resistant superbugs and
  3. Running earphone cords that get tangled in your hands as you run.

After my Sony headphones gave up the ghost after three years I bought my first pair of wireless headphones.  I got the HMDX Craze Sports.  They are Bluetooth and have ear loops to keep them in place.  This is a big improvement.  They are light.  They don’t pull.  But most importantly they don’t get tangled in your hand and arm during the upswing.  They claim to be sweatproof and water resistant but I’ll have to see about that.

Anyway, I was happy to get out this morning after really a tough race yesterday.  I’m still running in my shirt and shorts, but the forecast calls for 31 degrees for my next run Tuesday morning and so I’m not putting away the winter running kit just yet.

Next up: global warming.

  1. Let me know if you continue to like the new headphones. I recently bought a pair of wireless headphones for running and I really don’t like them very much. They somehow catch the air as I’m running and then make this wooshing noise that blocks out the music. They also tend to fall out, even though they have the ear clip. Here’s the link.

Anyways, if you like the Craze Sports, maybe I’ll buy those next.
