10K of Disproportionate Exertion

This morning I ran my training loop “10K of Disproportionate Exertion.”  It’s chilly here in Pittsburgh and I’m still running in tights and a jacket with gloves but without hat.

My route today has 501 feet of climb, compared to the Brooklyn Half Marathon which has 181 feet of climb in over twice the distance.  Running in Western Pennsylvania essentially includes running hills unless you run along the rivers or on the rails-trails.

Along this route I pass what I have come to refer as the “Dancing Girl.”  After a while you come to know the tar cracks and shapes and with repeated viewing they start to look like maps, animals, and in this case, the Dancing Girl.  I have two photos below.  On the left is the tar shape.  On the right, a masterpiece by Pablo Picasso titled “Dance of Peace.”  See what you think!
